About Our Company
ContainerTrac serves the seaport and rail industries by providing a fully automated, cell level accurate, in-yard container Position Detection System (PDS). ContainerTrac's PDS provides cell level accuracy, under all conditions, which is essential to overcome the multi-path and blockage challenges of heavy metal, steel shipping container environments. ContainerTrac's PDS is particularly effective in stacked container canyons, under rubber tired and rail mounted lift equipment, and next to the vessel under the Quay cranes.

As seaport and rail operators know, most solutions to date have only been able to achieve cell level accuracy about 80% of the time, which is not sufficient to automate current manual processes. As a result, handling costs have dramatically increased as global volumes have forced even the largest container yards to stack boxes higher and higher. This densification, and the ever-growing volume of containers, has reduced the throughput of most operations; slowing down the supply chain. On the US West coast, volumes between 2003 - 2006 increased 32% while marine clerk and longshore labor increased 74%. This trend must be reversed to handle anticipated volumes between 2008 - 2011.

History
ContainerTrac was incorporated in 2000 by Bob Carson and Larry Henry. Development, testing, and patenting was ongoing through 2004 with all on-site activities completed at Pier 80 in San Francisco, CA. In 2005, ContainerTrac deployed an on-site technology pilot with the Georgia Ports Authority in Savannah, GA (the largest volume seaport yard in the US and the largest single acreage facility in the world) and live demonstrations of the pilot were completed with multiple Global Terminal Operators (GTOs) throughout 2006. ContainerTrac's PDS is ready for deployment for those terminal operators ready to take the next step in attaining an automated, cell level accurate inventories.

Technology
Unlike other vendors who attempt solutions using a "tracking" mentality ("about where is my asset?"), ContainerTrac has approached the problem from a precision vehicle guidance mindset which focuses on centimeter accuracy as opposed to meters and tens of meters ("exactly where is my asset?"). ContainerTrac's engineering team is led by Dr. Han-Shue Tan who is a world leader in vehicle automation science. ContainerTrac's solution successfully integrates Global Positioning Satellite technology with Inertial Navigation System science to achieve centimeter performance (a requirement for cell level accuracy). ContainerTrac has 2 patents and 2 patents pending which gives its Customers and the industry a protected intellectual property path.

Our Management Team
The management team at ContainerTrac is dedicated to providing products and services that improve throughput, ease the ability to manage densely packed container facilities, and reduce cost. We believe more efficient management of the supply chain's terminal yards will enable a safer environment for workers, and it will speed the US Customs' process of inspecting containers as the exact location of each box will be known in real-time.
